GrantCue sells one of the products compared here, so every competitor figure below is tied to a public page and the date it was read.
The right GrantWatch alternative depends on which part of GrantWatch you were paying for. GrantWatch's MemberPlus+ subscription costs $22 a week, $49 a month, $100 a quarter or $249 a year, every plan has the same features, and each subscription is for one user (GrantWatch pricing page and FAQ, read October 2026). If federal grants were the main use, Grants.gov is free. If you want curated listings at a similar price, GrantStation's membership page lists $199 for one year. If you want a larger matched database with tracking for a small team, Instrumentl starts at $299 a month paid annually (vendor pages, read October 2026).
GrantWatch is built around its listings: open grant opportunities from foundation, corporate and government funders, which its own researchers check and update. The alternatives below either replace that job or come at it from the funder side.
Quick Answer: What Is a Good Alternative to GrantWatch?
For federal grants, Grants.gov is free. For curated grant listings, GrantStation lists a one-year membership at $199 on its membership page. For funder research, Candid and Kindora both have free tiers. For matching and tracking in one tool, Instrumentl Discover costs $299 a month paid annually for up to 3 users (vendor pricing pages, read October 2026).
What GrantWatch Costs and What You Would Replace
Source: GrantWatch pricing page and FAQ, read October 2026. Tokens are listed as a welcome bonus included in a first-time subscription.
GrantWatch says "One price for everyone: nonprofits, businesses and individuals pay the same", and every MemberPlus+ plan includes the same platform; only the allowance of tokens for its AI features changes, and more can be bought (GrantWatch pricing page, read October 2026).
The plan buys access to "17,232+ Human Verified™ Grant Opportunities Updated Daily", and the site menu also lists 376,827 IRS 990 funder profiles and 2.23 million grant recipient profiles (GrantWatch pricing page, read October 2026). Beyond search, every plan includes a grant pipeline and calendar, AI grant writing tools, award management and reporting. Listings cover nonprofits, small businesses, individuals, government agencies, tribes and schools (GrantWatch FAQ, read October 2026).

Reasons Teams Look Past GrantWatch
Some reasons come straight from GrantWatch's own terms, read October 2026.
Seats are single. "Each MemberPlus+ subscription is for one user, and login credentials may not be shared" (GrantWatch FAQ). Collaborating on pipeline cards carries no seat fee, "but every collaborator must have an active paid MemberPlus+ subscription" (GrantWatch pricing page). Three people on annual plans would pay $747 a year at list price, unless a multiple-user package, which GrantWatch quotes on request, comes in lower.
Refunds are narrow. Weekly and monthly payments are non-refundable "including initial payments, even if canceled immediately after purchase" (GrantWatch Terms, on the join page). On quarterly and annual plans, a refund is possible only if no grants have been viewed since payment, with $49 kept for each month or part month and a written request within 30 days (GrantWatch FAQ).
Renewal is automatic. Creating an account enrolls you in Auto-Renew, and GrantWatch bills at the start of each period until you turn it off (GrantWatch FAQ). There is no traditional free trial; the free Member account shows search results and eight closed sample listings, and the cheapest full test is the $22 week (GrantWatch FAQ and Terms).
Access depends on location. GrantWatch's terms say access is "intended solely for users located within the United States, its territories and possessions, Canada, and Israel" (GrantWatch Terms, on the join page).
Free GrantWatch Alternatives
Federal opportunities need no subscription. The Grants.gov search page filters by opportunity status, funding instrument, eligibility, category and agency, and has an Export Detailed Data button (Grants.gov, read October 2026). Foundation research is free too, because foundations' tax filings are public.
Sources: Grants.gov, Grantmakers.io, ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer (updated October 22, 2026), Candid pricing page, Kindora pricing page, Grant Gopher Plans & Pricing and GrantWatch pages, all read October 2026.
The free set covers federal search and foundation history well. What it does not do is what GrantWatch's researchers do: collect open foundation and corporate calls in one place and check them. State grant portals and local community foundations fill part of that gap; the guide to grant newsletters worth subscribing to lists the free email routes, and the free foundation directory guide covers the 990 readers.

Paid GrantWatch Alternatives by Price
Sources: GrantStation membership and discounts pages, Kindora pricing page, Candid pricing page, Instrumentl pricing page and Grant Gopher Plans & Pricing, all read October 2026.
GrantStation is the closest match in shape and price; it gets its own section below. Kindora works from the funder side: every plan includes "Unlimited funder browsing (256K+ funders, 290K+ grant programs)" and full 990 data, and annual plans are non-refundable (Kindora pricing page, read October 2026). Candid Premium adds unlimited full profile views, grants data and key staff contacts with LinkedIn profiles, at several times GrantWatch's price (Candid pricing page, read October 2026).
Instrumentl is the step up when you want matching, a shared pipeline and more than one login. Its Discover plan lists "37k+ active RFPs & 450k+ funder profiles" for up to 3 users, with a 14-day trial and no credit card (Instrumentl pricing page, read October 2026). Over a year that is $3,588 paid upfront, about fourteen times GrantWatch's annual price. Grant Gopher's Pro service publishes no price; its page describes in-kind research, custom alerts and a database that includes "funders without websites" (Grant Gopher Plans & Pricing, read October 2026).

GrantWatch vs GrantStation
Both sell curated grant listings at a fraction of Candid's or Instrumentl's price. They differ in billing and audience.
GrantStation's membership page currently lists one year at $199 and two years at $299, while its discounts page gives the regular price as $699 for one year and $1,258 for two (GrantStation membership and discounts pages, read October 2026). TechSoup lists the one-year membership at $199 for eligible members and $150 in its TechSoup Plus catalog (TechSoup Support, updated September 14, 2026). Grant Professionals Association members get it free (GPA partner offers page, read October 2026).
GrantStation describes "15,000+ curated grants" and gives two different counts of funding profiles on the same page, 150,000+ and 350,000+ (GrantStation membership page, read October 2026). It offers no free trial, but anyone can run its search filters without logging in to see how many grantmakers match. Its FAQ says an organization is ready for grantseeking with a budget of $10,000 or more and a fundraising track record.
GrantWatch's case is flexibility. It sells a single week for $22 or a month for $49, serves businesses and individuals at the same price as nonprofits, and accepts checks, invoices and purchase orders (GrantWatch FAQ, read October 2026). For a nonprofit planning a year of foundation prospecting, GrantStation's current one-year price is lower; for a one-off search or a business applicant, GrantWatch's short plans fit better. The GrantStation vs Candid pricing guide covers GrantStation's discount routes in more detail.

Where Tracking Fits
GrantWatch's pipeline and calendar come with every plan, but each person working the pipeline needs a paid subscription of their own (GrantWatch pricing page, read October 2026), so the price of tracking grows with the team. GrantCue, which publishes this guide, prices each plan for the whole organization instead: its Free plan is $0 for one user tracking up to 10 grants, with saved searches and email alerts on every plan, Essentials is $49 a month for up to 3 users, and every new account gets 14 days of the Team plan with no card (grantcue.com/pricing, read October 2026). It does not describe a team of researchers checking each listing the way GrantWatch does, so a team that relies on that checking should weigh it.
FAQ
Is There a Free Alternative to GrantWatch?
Yes, in parts. Grants.gov searches federal opportunities for free, Grantmakers.io and ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer open foundation tax filings at no cost, and Candid and Kindora each have a free tier (vendor pages, read October 2026). None of them collects open foundation and corporate calls the way GrantWatch's paid listings do.
What Is Cheaper Than GrantWatch?
At published prices, GrantStation's membership page lists one year at $199, against $249 for a GrantWatch year (GrantStation membership page and GrantWatch pricing page, read October 2026). TechSoup Plus members can get the GrantStation year for $150 (TechSoup Support, updated September 14, 2026). Kindora Starter costs $250 a year, about the same as GrantWatch.
Is GrantWatch or GrantStation Better?
It depends on billing and audience. GrantWatch sells weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly plans at one price for nonprofits, businesses and individuals (GrantWatch pricing page, read October 2026). GrantStation sells one- and two-year memberships, has no free trial, and says an organization is ready for it with a budget of $10,000 or more and a fundraising track record (GrantStation membership page, read October 2026).
Does GrantWatch Have a Free Trial?
No traditional free trial. A free Member account, with no card, shows search results and eight closed sample listings, and the cheapest full access is the $22 weekly plan; turn off Auto-Renew if you do not want it to repeat (GrantWatch FAQ and Terms, read October 2026). Weekly payments are non-refundable.
Can You Get a Refund From GrantWatch?
Only in a narrow case. Weekly and monthly payments are non-refundable. On a quarterly or annual plan, if no grants have been viewed since payment, GrantWatch refunds the balance after keeping $49 for each month or part month, on a written request within 30 days of payment (GrantWatch FAQ, read October 2026).
Run Your Last Three Searches Again
Before you switch, run your last three GrantWatch searches on the free tools: Grants.gov for anything federal, Grantmakers.io or ProPublica for the foundations that came up. Note what you could not find without GrantWatch. If the gap is federal, you need nothing paid. If it is open foundation and corporate calls, compare GrantStation's current $199 year with GrantWatch's $249. If it is several people working one pipeline, price the tools with more than one seat.
