Grants for Faith-Based Organizations
This page covers grants that churches, other houses of worship and faith-based nonprofits are eligible to apply for, usually to run community services such as food assistance, housing, health care, youth programs or recovery support. It does not cover funding for worship or other religious activities.
Under federal rules such as the Department of Health and Human Services regulation at 45 CFR Part 87, faith-based organizations compete on the same basis as other applicants and keep their religious character. Direct federal funds cannot pay for explicitly religious activities such as worship, religious instruction or proselytization; any such activities must be kept separate in time or location from the funded program and be voluntary for participants. Private funders set their own rules.

Listed when the title or the funder's eligible applicants name faith-based or religious organizations, churches, congregations or houses of worship, unless an eligibility entry excludes them. A rule that the money cannot pay for religious activities does not by itself put a grant on this page.
