Grants for Nonprofits in Alabama
Much of Alabama's grant money for local governments and nonprofits runs through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), whose divisions handle community and economic development, recreation, energy, water resources, and law enforcement and traffic safety. The Alabama State Council on the Arts funds arts projects through its own grants portal, and community foundations make local grants around the state.
GrantCue reads ADECA's open funding opportunities, its Byrne Justice Assistance Grant programs and the Alabama Humanities Alliance. ADECA's funding page shows only rounds that are open now, so its grant calendar, which lists by season when each program usually opens, is the better planning tool.
