Supports locally driven projects and initiatives that contribute to Louisville’s progress, reputation, quality of life, and vitality; grants range between $150,000 and $500,000. Eligible applicants: Applicants must be nonprofit organizations located primarily in the Louisville metro area; organizations outside the Louisville Metro Area are ineligible, with rare exceptions.; Organizations should demonstrate significant financial support for projects, including contributions from private donors, private and public grants, and other sustainable sources of revenue.; Letters of support or endorsement are appropriate to include in the application, and applicants are encouraged to mention current partnerships and collaborations.; The proportion of a project budget requested from JGBF should not typically exceed 30% of the total project budget.; The grant request must be appropriate for the scope of impact.; Proposals demonstrating that 50%–60% of the total project cost has been raised are more competitive.; JGBF will rarely be the sole funder and encourages a broad base of support.; Requests made via LOI must be approved by the applicant's CEO before submission.; Organizations may submit one LOI per calendar year.; New organizations and organizations that have not previously received a JGBF grant must complete the Eligibility Questionnaire to submit a Letter of Interest.; Previous JGBF grantees may contact their program officer, call JGBF, or submit a Letter of Interest for established organizations.; A formal application may be submitted only after the applicant receives an invitation following LOI review.; Performing arts requests are ineligible, with no exceptions.; Requests from religious organizations for religious purposes, including theological seminaries, are ineligible.; Individuals are ineligible.; Political entities are ineligible.; Fundraising events are ineligible.; Individual public or private pre-K through 12 schools are ineligible, with rare exceptions.; Organizations established within the last three years are ineligible.; Organizations with an annual operating budget of less than $300,000 are ineligible.; Requests for ongoing operations or routine program costs are typically ineligible.; Organizations with active JGBF grants or consecutive grants toward the same project are ineligible.. Geography served: Louisville metro area. Deadline: Rolling until October 15, 2026 December 1, 2026 February 2027.
