Restrictions
Organizations must be a 501(c)(3) organization that performs work primarily in massachusetts and be under the giving guidelines of education, health care and wellness including social determinants of health, preservation and access to cultural and historic assets and open space for all, the religious and educational efforts of the roman catholic church, and housing and homelessness.

The Foundation generally does not fund more than 5% of an organization's total budget and may provide successive-year or multi-year grants. Eligible applicants: Any not-for-profit organization may submit a concept paper through the Foundation's website.; All proposals should include a concise overview of the organization, relevant program information, and a description of how the organization shares the Foundation's mission to create sustainable social change.; The Foundation does not typically provide emergency or immediate funding.; The Foundation does not typically sponsor individual events.; If a concept paper is rejected because the organization does not fit the mission, the organization should not submit another concept paper.; If a concept paper is rejected because the Foundation is currently funding similar organizations, the organization should submit another concept paper 18 months later.; If a grant application is rejected, the organization must wait five years before requesting funding again.; If an organization is awarded a grant, it must wait five years before requesting funding again.; Foundation staff and trustees conduct a site visit; applicants should not call to schedule it because a staff member will make contact after reviewing the application..
