Unsolicited Grants Program

Up to $25,000

General Support grants for future expenses and activities, with funds expected to be expended within 12 months. Applicants may request up to $25,000, but the amount awarded may differ. The program particularly welcomes nonprofit organizations that engage with and serve diverse populations, seek to dismantle systems that constrain individual choices and opportunities, or promote racial equity. Eligible applicants: Applicants must be US-registered 501(c)(3) public charitable organizations, including educational institutions described in 170(b)(1)(A)(ii), or fiscally sponsored projects.; The application process is for organizations that have never received a grant from The Campbell Foundation; an organization that previously received a grant is not eligible to apply through this process.; Applicants must complete the Eligibility Checklist; eligible applicants will then receive instructions on how to start a proposal.; Only one proposal per cycle may be submitted.; An organization declined for an unsolicited grant must wait a minimum of two years between applications.; The Foundation will respond only to full and complete proposals submitted through its grants management system; applicants should not submit an LOI, preliminary materials, or hard-copy materials.; At this time, proposals are accepted only for General Support, not Capacity Building or Capital Campaign funding.; Proposals are evaluated in part for completeness, organizational financial health and sustainability, and ability to adhere to the cycle guidelines.; The program prioritizes organizations that have operated for five or more years.; The program prioritizes organizations with operating budgets between $1 million and $12 million.; The program prioritizes organizations with at least five funders contributing $5,000 or more.; The program prioritizes organizations with at least five board members.; The program prioritizes organizations matching Agriculture, Clean, Safe Drinking Water, Community Engagement, Water Management, or Watershed Advocacy priorities.; The program prioritizes organizations with programming focused on racial equity and/or on Black, Indigenous, and/or other communities of color.; The program prioritizes organizations whose leadership reflects the communities they serve.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for Academic or Medical Research.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for Alcohol and Drug Recovery Programming.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for boarding schools, private schools, or private preschools.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for city and county governments or federal departments.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for Conservation Districts outside the Chesapeake and California regions.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for Disease Research and Prevention.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for Ecosystem Restoration.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for films.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for hospitals.; Unsolicited grants are not provided to individuals.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for international aid.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for Marine Protected Areas outside California.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for membership- or dues-based organizations.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for non-community-based Fisheries and Ocean Management.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for Plastic Pollution.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for programs or activities that require participation in religious activities or adherence to a religious creed as a condition of receiving services; projects must be accessible and beneficial regardless of beneficiaries' faith, and beneficiaries must not be subject to proselytizing.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for projects not based in the United States.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for Single Species Management or Conservation.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for Waterkeepers organizations outside the Chesapeake and California regions.; Unsolicited grants are not provided for youth sports clubs.. Geography served: United States; California, especially Fresno, Kern, Kings, San Francisco, and Tulare counties; Maryland, especially Dorchester, Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset counties; Pennsylvania, especially Lancaster and York counties.
