Mental Health Consultation Grants

Funding for mental health consultation within the Foundation’s early-childhood focus. Applications are accepted through the January cycle each year. Most foundation grants range from $10,000 to $50,000, but this is not a hard award range. Eligible applicants: Applicants must be organizations tax-exempt under IRC 501(c)(3) or government entities and must be classified as a public charity or “not a private foundation” under IRC 509(a).; The proposed work must align closely with the Foundation’s mission and areas of interest in early childhood education and development.; Applicants may have no more than nine months of operating reserve available.; Applicants must have a non-discrimination policy aligned with the Buell Foundation’s policy and Colorado law and must submit that policy with the application.; The Foundation states that it accepts one application per organization per year.; The FAQ also states that an organization is eligible to apply once every eight months, generally before its current grant contract ends.; An organization generally may not apply for more than one project, although the Foundation may allow this under special circumstances after discussion with a Program Officer.; Programs and projects outside Colorado are not funded.; Animal-related programs are not funded.; Annual campaigns or membership drives are not funded.; Basic-needs activities described as food pantries, diaper banks, or emergency funds are not funded.; Comprehensive sex education is not funded.; Crisis pregnancy centers are not funded.; Debt relief is not funded.; Endowments are not funded.; Individuals are not funded.; International programs and activities are not funded.; K–12 education or services for children older than age five are not funded.; Legislative lobbying or support of political candidates is not funded.; Litigation is not funded.; Medical programs or activities related to a defined medical condition are not funded.; Museums and the arts are not funded.; One-time offerings, including one-time trainings or professional-development opportunities, are not funded.; Organizations with nine months or more of net current assets are not funded.; Past operating deficits are not funded.; Prenatal services are not funded.; Projects promoting religion are not funded.; Single-subject or enrichment programs, such as math, science, or dance, are not funded.; Sports-related programs are not funded.; Summer camps are not funded.; Therapeutic or mental-health counseling services are not funded.; Youth mentoring is not funded.; Applicants must participate in the Foundation’s review process, which includes review of programs, governance, evaluation, financial health, and a site visit conducted in person or by video conference.; If a required attachment is unavailable, the applicant must upload a document stating that the attachment is not included.; Programs housed within a school district must submit a two- or three-page summary of the district’s budget and financial information specific to the program.; Applicants within a government department must provide a letter stating that the program belongs to the department and that the department holds accountability for it.; Every awarded grant requires a final report one month after the grant period ends..
