At the board’s discretion, a grant may be contingent on specified conditions and/or the institution fulfilling an additional fundraising obligation within a specified period. Major areas of support include education; social service and human service needs; and cultural and humanitarian programs of State significance. Eligible applicants: Applicants must be charitable, scientific, or educational institutions qualified under section 501(c)(3) and must not be private foundations within the meaning of section 509(a).; A 501(c)(3) agency must be headquartered and provide services in Oklahoma.; Organizations must submit a Letter of Inquiry to determine whether they meet the criteria and priorities for funding.; Representatives must speak with a program officer for more information, questions about the process, and a pre-grant interview.; Only successful Letter of Inquiry applicants receive information on completing an online application.; No exceptions are made for applications or parts of applications submitted after the deadline.; Organizations are limited to one application per calendar year or twelve-month period.; Organizations with a current Sarkeys Foundation grant cannot apply for additional funding until final payment has been received and expended.; The Letter of Inquiry must provide the organization name; contact name, address, email, and phone number; descriptions of the organization and project; requested amount; total project cost; and federal tax ID number.; The application must include an executive summary.; The application must include financial and endowment information.; The application must include board and employee information.; The application must include a description of the organization.; The application must include a description of the project.; The application must describe collaborative efforts in the community.; The application must include a line-item budget for the request.; The application must list secured funds and pledges, outstanding requests, and other potential funding sources.; Organizations with assets over $500,000 must provide an audit.; The application must include a letter from an auditor stating that no material weaknesses were discovered.; The Letter of Inquiry and grant application must be completed online; faxed or emailed proposals are not accepted.; Local programs appropriately financed within the community are generally outside the Foundation’s range of support.; Direct mail solicitations and annual campaigns are generally outside the Foundation’s range of support.; Out-of-state institutions are generally outside the Foundation’s range of support.; Hospitals are generally outside the Foundation’s range of support.; Vehicle purchases are generally outside the Foundation’s range of support.; Grants to individuals are generally outside the Foundation’s range of support.; The Foundation generally does not assume responsibility for permanent financing of a program.; Programs whose ultimate intent is profit-making are generally outside the Foundation’s range of support.; Start-up funding for new organizations is generally outside the Foundation’s range of support.; Feasibility studies are generally outside the Foundation’s range of support.; Grants that trigger expenditure responsibility by Sarkeys Foundation are generally outside its range of support.; Direct support to government agencies is generally outside the Foundation’s range of support.; Individual public or private elementary or secondary schools are generally outside the Foundation’s range of support unless they serve the needs of a unique population whose needs are not being met elsewhere.; Religious institutions and their subsidiaries are generally outside the Foundation’s range of support.; The board may make a Challenge Grant contingent on specified conditions and/or fulfillment of the institution’s additional fundraising obligation within a specified period..
