Iowa West Foundation Grants

Unrestricted support for a grantee’s overall activities, including administrative functions, when the grantee’s work demonstrates results aligned with the Foundation’s target outcomes. Eligible applicants: Applicants must be 501(c)(3) public charities or government entities; individuals, private businesses, and 501(c)(3) private foundations are not funded.; Operating Grants are available only to organizations that own or lease commercial office space in Pottawattamie County.; Applicants should demonstrate strong alignment through a clearly aligned workplan and a track record of clear results.; The Foundation generally develops a strong relationship through program grants before awarding an organization an Operating Grant.; Public and governmental entities are generally funded through Program Grants or Capital Grants rather than Operating Grants.; Applicants begin with a Letter of Inquiry through the online grants portal and receive a link to the full application after Foundation review.; Applicants using their own budget format must provide a budget narrative.; Past recipients must be in good standing, meaning all current grants comply with award conditions, reporting is complete and current, and any concerns identified by the Foundation have been satisfactorily addressed.; The Foundation will not fund more than 50% of eligible costs; in-kind contributions may count for up to 15% of the total eligible budget as matching funds.; Individual schools are not eligible to apply.; Activities violating nonprofit-status restrictions or resulting in inappropriate discrimination or intolerance are ineligible.; Endowment campaigns, benefits, fundraising events, galas, golf tournaments, and school dinners are ineligible.; Medical-care costs, medical-facility operations or construction, and grants addressing circumstances arising from specific medical conditions are ineligible.; Past costs, debts, and expenses are ineligible.; Programs that sub-award the Foundation’s funding are ineligible.; Churches and religious organizations are not eligible for Operating Grants.; An applicant may not reapply for a program that was declined during the preceding 12 months.; Publications, films, books, seminars, and conferences are ineligible as stand-alone projects and may be considered only when they directly support an eligible program..
