- Application materials
- Applications are submitted online at www.sunshineopportunityscholarships.com. The applications gather basic information about the applicant (addresses, phone numbers, emails, test scores, GPA, colleges to which applicant has applied and/or has been accepted, special circumstances, a timeline of the five most important events in the applicant's life so far, parent/guardian education and employment history) a resume that includes academic honors and community service, a 500 word minimum essay, transcript from high school, letters of recommendation, and the applicant's expected family contribution to higher education.
- Restrictions
- Applicants must have a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher, must show evidence of having overcome significant obstacles in life, must demonstrate financial need (FAFSA report), must show involvement in the community through volunteer service and must be U.S citizens or permanent residents of the United States. In the selection process, preference will be given to students who are the first generation to attend college. Applicants must attend public or private high schools in specific geographic areas of Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina: the counties of Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco in the Tampa Bay area of Florida; the cities of Florence and Marion in South Carolina, and the county of Avery in North Carolina.
