Eligible applicants: Organizations may apply only once per year.; Organizations must focus their efforts within Utah.; Applicants must be registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations for at least three years; units of government are exempt from the IRS tax-exemption-letter requirement.; Organizations must have a history of achievement, effectiveness, and good management and demonstrate sound financial condition supported by their most recent completed audited financial statements.; Organizations must make a distinctive contribution to the community without unnecessarily duplicating existing services or programs.; Projects and programs must be consistent with the Foundation’s identified focus areas.; Projects and programs must have significant potential to make a measurable impact in an area of need.; The proposed project or program must be considered by the applicant organization to be of highest priority in carrying out its primary community objectives.; Projects and programs must show broad-based financial support from a variety of funding sources.; Other private foundations are ineligible.; Political organizations that attempt to influence legislation or the candidacy of persons for elected public office are ineligible.; Conduit organizations, unified funds, and organizations that use funds to make grants supporting other organizations are ineligible.; Organizations without fiscal responsibility for the proposed project are ineligible.; Requests for contingencies, deficits, or debt reduction are ineligible.; Requests for general endowment funds are ineligible.; Requests for direct aid to individuals are ineligible.; Requests for conferences, seminars, or medical research are ineligible.; Colleges and universities must apply through their central development or advancement offices.; K-12 public and private schools are ineligible.; Returning applicants must have submitted their last grant usage report.; Requests must fall within the Foundation’s specified areas of interest.; Applicants must first submit a Letter of Inquiry through the online portal and receive approval before submitting a full Grant Application Form.; Event sponsorship requests must be submitted at least 90 days before the scheduled event, measured from the Letter of Inquiry submission date.; Full applications must include a cover letter from the organization’s CEO or Executive Director.; Full applications must include the organization’s most recent audited financial statements, including balance sheets and an income statement, and its latest Form 990 if applicable.; Full applications must include the organization’s 501(c)(3) IRS determination letter showing tax-exempt status, except for units of government such as cities, counties, and public schools.; Full applications must include a full project budget.; Full applications must include a list of the organization’s board of directors and officers.; When applicable, full applications must include photographs or architectural renderings that visually explain the project or need, especially for construction, restoration, preservation, or conservation projects.; Full applications must include two letters supporting the organization and project.; Incomplete applications may not be considered for funding.; A declined request will not be reconsidered for 12 months; after that period, reconsideration requires prior Foundation approval and a new application containing requested updated or additional information..
