Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation Grants

Multi-year unrestricted general-operations grants for professional arts organizations and cultural groups focused on traditional artistic practices. For professional arts organizations, grant amounts are based on annual expenses for the most recently completed fiscal year: $10,000 for expenses of $0–$100,000; $15,000 for $100,000–$400,000; $20,000 for $400,000–$750,000; and $25,000 for $750,000 and above. Eligible applicants: Program staff must have a conversation with the organization and see its work before it applies.; Arts organizations must be located in Horry, Georgetown, Berkeley, Dorchester, Charleston, Colleton, Hampton, Jasper, or Beaufort County.; Cultural groups that focus on traditional artistic practices can be eligible to apply.; The entity must be a 501(c)(3) public charity or have a fiscal sponsor.; The organization must be in compliance with the Secretary of State.; The organization must have completed at least one full fiscal year of operations.; The organization must demonstrate or strongly promise artistic vitality, assessed in light of its programming, professionalism, artistic discipline, budget size, and organizational evolution.; The organization must demonstrate support of professional and local artists.; Individuals are not eligible.; Organizations whose missions primarily focus on arts education or social service are not eligible.; Religious activities, political campaigns, and legislative lobbying are not eligible.; Stand-alone conferences, publications, films, events, websites, and videos are not eligible.; Endowments, capital projects, facilities or building campaigns, and debt reduction are not eligible.; New organizations must have a conversation with program staff and have their work reviewed before becoming eligible to apply.; Applicants are asked to contact the foundation at least six weeks before the deadline.; Returning grantees apply through the Grantee Portal..
