Medical Malpractice Defense Services

NYC Health + Hospitals seeks to obtain proposals from law firms that specialize in the defense of medical malpractice claims. The successfully awarded firms will defend NYC Health + Hospitals and its medical staff in high exposure medical malpractice claims. Defense counsel may also be assigned to represent physicians insured by NYC Health + Hospitals' captive insurance company, the HHC Insurance Company (HHCIC) and its medical staff in regulatory matters. Defense counsel is also expected to provide legal assistance concerning NYC Health + Hospitals Risk Management and Quality Assurance programs, be available to consult on regulatory matters, assist hospital risk managers and conduct in-service lectures. NYC Health + Hospitals will award two types of contracts: (1) major defense firm contracts will be assigned a high volume of matters from the initial filing of the Notice of Claim through final disposition, including trial; (2) contracts will also be awarded to specialty firms with exceptional legal expertise in a particular area of trial practice, medical malpractice, health care law, insurance, or similar area. Such firms will be assigned matters on an as needed basis. Law firms participating in the RFP may ask to be considered in one or both categories

This RFP is intended to procure and make available permanent supportive housing units for adults (18+); initially, the Health Department anticipates that the population would be comprised mainly of individuals who are frequently cycling through jail and shelter who have a mental illness and/or substance use disorder. The Health Department anticipates that the population matches may expand to include individuals who, in addition to having frequent contact with the criminal justice system and the homeless system, have also had frequent contact with the mental health treatment system. The Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is seeking appropriately qualified vendor(s) to identify and operate units for the City Sanctuary Facilites ('Facilities') programs that will be used to house asylum seeking families and individuals in New York City. This emergency procurement is being solicited under the emergency declaration issued by the New York City Department of Social Services. The selected vendor(s) will procure and operate up to 5,000 units in Facilities such as commercial hotels or other similar facilities throughout NYC as outlined in the solicitation. The population served by the selected vendor will be families with children, adult couples, and/or individual adults. Vendors can propose to either operate just the operational portion of the Facility, the service delivery requirements of the Facility, or both and should make this clear in their proposal. This solicitation is 'open-ended', therefore, proposals will be reviewed on an on-going basis until capacity needs, including both Facility operations and service delivery have been met. DHS will start to accept proposals immediately. Proposers are advised to be ready, willing and able to provide services on a 24 hour's notice. Proposals will be accepted on an on-going basis submitted through the HHS Accelerator system in the manner set forth in the 'Procurements' section of the system by those same prequalified organizations. They help students manage their illnesses during the school day. Because of the location, School Based Health Center are an easy health care option for busy students with busy parents who cannot always make it to their doctors office. School-Based Health Centers have been providing primary care to students in NYC schools for over 30 years. Its been proven that School-Based Health Centers lower school absences and parents time away from work. They also lower the chance of an emergency room or hospital visit. If a child has a chronic illness, or suddenly gets sick, a School-Based Health Center at their school can assist the child with needed care.
