Request for Funding (RFF)

Open · closes Dec 4, 2026

Requests for general operating and project funding, plus small capital requests under $25,000. RFF submissions are not formal applications. They let WCCF learn about community needs and match compatible donor funds with nonprofits when funds are available. A typical RFF grant is $1,000 to $5,000; most funds have limited grantmaking capacity. Requests are reviewed at the end of each quarter, and staff respond within a month if there is a potential funding match. Eligible applicants: Applicants must register an account in WCCF's Online Grant Center to access an application or a request for funding; the application account must match the organization information displayed in Guidestar.; Applicants must be a registered nonprofit organization with a current IRS Tax Exempt status; no grants will be made to individuals.; Organizations should be registered and in good standing with the State of Colorado and be in full compliance with Colorado's Charitable Solicitations Law.; Organizations must serve within the seven counties in WCCF's region: Delta, Mesa, Ouray, Rio Blanco, Montrose, Garfield and Eagle counties.; Applicant organizations must be either a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity or an organization that serves a charitable purpose (e.g. schools, governments, or churches with programs that carry out a charitable purpose, such as a food pantry).; Organizations must have offices and/or services in one of the seven counties WCCF serves (Delta, Eagle, Garfield, Mesa, Montrose, Ouray, Rio Blanco) and be registered with the Colorado Secretary of State (CSOS) and in good standing.; WCCF cannot award grants to private foundations, private operating foundations or organizations that engage in lobbying activities.; WCCF does not fund: individuals, budget shortfalls, operating reserves, or fundraising events.; Requests may be for general operating and project funding, or for small capital requests under $25,000 (capital requests over $25,000 go to the Capital Campaign Request for Funding).; Requests are accepted from nonprofits across sectors including Animal Care, Arts and Culture, Community/Civic Engagement, Education, Environment, Health, Human Services/Basic Needs, Suicide Prevention & Awareness (Mesa County), and Youth Development.; WCCF does not limit the number of RFFs an organization may submit in a year, but typically nonprofits receive funding through this process no more than once a year.; Organizations may submit a Request for Funding while also applying to competitive processes such as Local Community Funds or Community Grants.. Geography served: Delta County; Mesa County; Ouray County; Rio Blanco County; Montrose County; Garfield County; Eagle County. Deadline: The Request for Funding will close on Friday, December 4th at 5:00 pm.
